I love learning, and photography is my favourite subject. This past winter I was part of a three month online wedding mentorship with one of my favourite wedding photographers; Susan Stripling. I turned in to many amazing workshops on Creative Live, and now had the opportunity to attend my first in person wedding workshop hosted by Jono & Laynie and Ash Nayler Photography.
I love online workshops because you can absorb knowledge while being in the comfort of your home; I love wearing my PJ's. However there is something truly amazing about attending one in person. The ability to participate in shoots is a whole new experience. Working along side different photographers, and having the ability to ask how they would approach the shoot priceless. The workshop took place in Ash Nayler's downtown Peterborough studio, and it included a great photography interactive presentation, and two unique styled shoots. Each shoot we started in Ash's studio, and then we made our way outside. In total 10 people joined the workshop, and it was funny to observe as the sea of cameras photographed each couple.
To watch Ash in action was a truly amazing thing, she wasn't afraid to swap a lens, or share her vision. Even though the amount of other cameras was a little intimidating, it was fun stepping back for a moment to observe what they were doing. All of us had an opportunity to capture the same couple, in the same setting, but I'm sure all of the pictures will look very different. Here is what my lens captured.
Now that I've attending my first workshop in person, I can see how easy it can be to get addicted to attending more. Who knows maybe one day it will be time for me to have my own workshop!
